The Dam Yankees chapter of Bounders United was organized during a rally at Bayley's Pine Point Resort in Scarborough, Maine, September 11-15, 1991. The organizing committee consisted of Bob and Penny Erickson, Roger Shorey, Polly Poire, Mel and Mary Taylor, and Bill and Sandy White.     There were eighteen charter member-coaches representing the six New England states, and one from Ohio, All were members of Bounders United.     Setting the tone for the future of the chapter at that organizational rally, attendees held a kangaroo race, had dinner out, watched a Shriners' parade, and toured the Wedding Cake House and the Kennebunkport Trolley Museum.

    At a later business meeting that fall of 1991, the chapter became a dual-membership chapter when it affiliated with Bounders of America. Chapter members now belong to either one, or both, of the national Bounder groups. According to the chapter's by-laws, elected officers must belong to both Bounders United and to Bounders of America.
    Today, the Dam Yankees continue to be a vibrant, active chapter, which holds six or more rallies each summer as well as a Valentine's Rally in Florida each winter. Membership has grown to fifty member-coaches. Every rally still features Kangaroo Races and area tours. Dinners out are still on the rally programs, but now many members are showing off their culinary skills for breakfasts and other meals in the campsites.
